Brentford vs. Chelsea report and Yeovil Town preview

Brentford took on Champions Of Europe Chelsea on Sunday in the F.A Cup 4th round tie at Griffin Park. Griffin Park was SOLD OUT well before the day of the game so it was packed to the rafters for the visit of Chelsea F.C.

The stage was very much set for a fantastic spectacle in West London.

The visitors where not shy to field the BIG names with John Terry, Frank Lampard, Fernando Torres starting the game, this showed that Rafa Benitez wants to win the F.A Cup.

Right from the start, the Bees started the strongest and when Adam Forshaw had a shot parried by Ross Turnbull it was that man from Italy-Marcello Trotta who pounced and fired the Reds in front in the 42nd minute. BRENTFORD 1 Chelsea 0.

Shortly after this was half time and with that Rafa Benitez, the 'tinker man' was back to his old tricks, the Spaniard brought on fellow countrymen Juan Mata for the 2nd half.
This change clearly worked for the Blues and Juan Mata made the difference and it was Oscar who equalized for the away side. BRENTFORD 1 Chelsea 1 55 minutes.

After this, the Bees seemed motivated to fight for the cup tie and that pressure told when Tom Adeyemi was brought down by Ross Turnbull and a penalty was awarded.

This penalty was taken by Brentford's young talisman Harry Forrester and scored to give Brentford the lead.

BRENTFORD 2 Chelsea 1 73 minutes

After this it was Chelsea who seemed to take the initiative but not without a stern performance from Brentford's back line with Simon Moore and Shalem Logan being the stand-out players.

But Chelsea's experience showed and it was Fernando Torres who equalized for the visitors to set up a replay at Stamford Bridge.

I personally thought Chelsea would win comfortably due to the amount of money their squad costs but that was not the case.

The Buzz Blog man of the match goes to Brentford's number 14 Shay Logan

So we now move on to Yeovil Town away on Saturday...

Both sides in form, Yeovil sit in 7th and the Bees in 4th.

The last time these 2 sides met it was in West London and Yeovil where sitting pretty at the top of the league.

Yeovil have won their last 2 games vs. MK Dons and Sheffield United whilst Brentford are without a win in 3 all be it one of those games was against the Champions Of Europe...

With all this in mind, I'm predicting a 2-1 Brentford win.

Dodgy Barnet's

This article is written with the hope of telling footballers from Sunday League to Champions League that dodgy Barnet's [see what I did there...] are no longer acceptable in football and as fans of the now not so beautiful game, it is our role to stand up to the state of footballers hair.

Now, there have been some legends of the game have some great hair, here are a few examples...

Ronaldo [the original]

Djibril Cisse

Robbie Savage

David James

And of course David Beckham...

These players players where at the top of the game when they had their dodgy Barnets and where therefore allowed to have rubbish hair...

This however does NOT apply for lower league players...

Here are a few examples:

Mark Bircham

Bas Savage

Paul Scharner

And Adam McGurk of Tranmere Rovers...

Honestly, what where they thinking...
They play in the lower leagues of football and they think they can get away with such rubbish hair?

Well the Buzz Blog is now going to name and shame the footballers in whatever division or team they may be in with the aim of putting an end to rubbish hair in football.

The Buzz Blog standing up to dodgy Barnet's since 2013.

Brentford vs. Leyton Orient preview

Brentford host London rivals Leyton Orient tomorrow night at Grffin Park in NPower League 1.
The Bees come into the game having lost 2-1 to table toppers Tranmere Rovers whilst Orient will arrive on the back of losing 2-0 to Doncaster on Saturday and are without a win in 3.

The Bees have hosting duties for the Champions Of Europe on Sunday, Brentford will take tomorrow nights game verses the O's very seriously and will want to make up for the Tranmere slip up.

Last time the Bees and Orient played at Griffin Park it was a pretty comprehensive win for the Bees who banged in 5 past a very poor Orient team.

But this a new season so who knows what will happen this time...

The Buzz Blog prediction-Brentford 3 Orient 1.

Donaldson, the nameless 1, Trotta.

January Transfer Window

So we are half way through January, the time of year most lower league managers have to fight to keep hold of their prize assets. Brentford have a sad history of letting their best players go in these transfer windows. These players go on to Bee real successes at 'bigger clubs'.

A few examples of this are players such as Stephen Hunt, Michael Turner, Sam Sodje and Jay Tabb. These players have gone on to make their mark in the top league of English football league.

When these players where at Brentford, the team was seen as going places and then it all went wrong when they left...
Many would say that the current generation assembled at Griffin park have qualities to match up to those of yesteryear if we can keep them with us. Players such as Clayton Donaldson and the nameless one have been performing well so their performances have caught the eye but I hope that we can keep them with us.

As for players coming in to the club; I don't think that Rosler will feel the need to bring anyone in but many Bees fans would of herd the news that former fans favorite Jay Tabb can leave Reading and began to wonder if he could return to Griffin park?

Brentford vs. Tranmere Rovers preview

This Saturday, Brentford host Tranmere Rovers in a clash that sees 3rd play 1st in NPower League 1. This match has the looks of a important tie in the league 1 run in...

Tranmere come to the game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Coventry last night.

Brentford on the other hand are in a rich vein of form in both league and cup, the Bees are undefeated in 9 games in all competitions [13 league games] and with a F.A Cup 4th round tie at Griffin Park vs. the F.A Cup holders and Champions Of Europe Chelsea to look forward to, all is well in West London.

Key players: Tranmere-Jake Cassidy. 11 goals in NPower League 1.
                    Brentford-Clayton Donaldson. 14 NPower League 1.

In my opinion, this Saturdays game is allot bigger than a certain game vs. the Kings Road lot but I have no doubts that many fringe Bees fans will choose to attend that game in a few weeks time but this game against top of the table Rovers is vital where as the Chelsea game is just a 'trophy game'

Prediction: Brentford 3 Tranmere Rovers 1. Clayton Donaldson, The Nameless 1 and Douglas.

Brentford vs. Southend report

Last night Brentford played Southend United in the F.A Cup 3rd round replay at Griffin Park. In the previous game at Roots Hall, the match finished 2-2. The day after that match we heard that Brentford or Southend United would play the Champions Of Europe, Chelsea in the F.A Cup 4th round at either Roots Hall or Griffin Park.

Last night the masses gathered for a replay that will see the home ground of either team be packed out.
The night started well with Brentford dominating the game from the start and Paul Hayes got the better of former Bee Paul Smith to give the Bees the lead in the 1st half. In the second half, Brentford continued to dominate and including a well saved penalty, the Bees can consider themselves unlucky not be further ahead.

Instead of Brentford going in front, Southend equalized and the game was back on...

The Bees who had 29 shots on target, managed to finally squeeze home the 2nd goal through Clayton Donaldson to set up a massive game vs. Chelsea on Sunday the 27th, kick-off 12 o'clock.

The Buzz Blog men of the match are former Bees Paul smith and Mark Phillips, alongside Clayton Donaldson.

BRENTFORD vs. Oldham Athletic and Bees vs. Southend preview

On Saturday, Brentford traveled to Boundary Park to face down the table Oldham Athletic.
In truth the game was comfortable from the start with Clayton Donaldson hitting home after 5 minutes to get things off to a great start, this continued throughout the game but the game was never quite won until the last 10 minutes when it was that man Donaldson again to make it 2-0.

The Buzz Blog man of the match Clayton Donaldson. The striker scored twice and once again pulled out the celebration known as 'The Heskey' which FYI was suggested by one of our reporters before the Boreham Wood match...but keep it to yourself.

So to Tuesday. Brentford are due to play Southend in F.A Cup 3rd round replay to see who will host The Champions Of Europe Chelsea at home in the 4th round.

With the busy schedule ahead, Bees fans will be pleased to hear that Marcello Trotta has signed a loan-extension to stay at Griffin Park until the end of the season.

In other news, there has been no reported bid for a certain Brentford winger who will remain nameless.

Christmas/new years with Brentford FC.

First of all a very happy new year to everyone from the Buzz Blog.

Since we last reported the Bees have played 4 games and won just 1 of them with a 3-1 win away at Colchester, after that Uwe Rosler's side had 2 stalemates vs. Shrewsbury and AFC Bournemouth in the league. After that there was the F.A Cup 3rd round tie away at Southend. Having been 2-0 up the Bees squandered a lead to arrange at unwanted replay on Tuesday.

Now, we all know the F.A Cup is magic and can bring up some amazing ties and if we get the better of Southend then amazingly we will play the Champions of Europe Chelsea Football Club at Griffin Park on Sunday the 27th of January at midday. If this happens we will see GP packed to rafters and who knows there may be a upset on the cards...

Back to league action now, Brentford travel to Oldham tomorrow to carry on their league campaign. The home side are in 19th whilst the Bees are 4th so Uwe Roslers side should be expecting a win...
