Buzz Blog exclusive interview with Darren Powell

The Buzz Blog spoke to former Bee, Darren Powell after Hampton And Richmond Borough vs. Canvey Island in the Ryman Premier

This was Darren's first game as official first team manager along side Paul Barry

I asked him how it felt 'I don't want wanna cliche it but it was a game of two halves, we weren't really happy so we had a few words at half time' this appeared to pay off and Darren added 'we should of won in the end'

Hampton came back from 2-0 down at half time to draw 2-2

I then asked him about being a player manager and whether its something he had experienced before? 'Never, just a player. It is an experience but I'm enjoying it. Me and Paul [Paul Barry] are on the same kind of wavelength and are enjoying it at the moment'

Next question asked was how Darren thinks he compares to the likes of Paul Ince and the managers he played under? 'Its early days at the moment, I'm kinda laid back when I've got something to say I will say it, I haven't fallen into a category yet'

We then went on to talk about Brentford, and Powelly [as he is known at the Bev] talked about his 2 spells at the club 'Second spell was a bit short, going back to Griffin Park is a good experience for me, I enjoyed it and enjoyed the first time more but yeah, its always good going back there'

The only player left from Darren's time at the club is Kevin O'connor so I asked how Darren thinks King Kev fits in at Griffin Park 'There gonna bury him on the pitch or under the pitch aren't they, hes been there from day one'

I asked about how he thinks the Bees have been performing to which he replied 'I always look out for there results and all so hopefully they will do it'

I ended the interview by asking Darren's aims for management 'I think one step at a time and me and Paul would like to get the team up next season'

The Buzz Blog would like to wish Darren and the team at Hampton And Richmond Borough the very best of luck for the future!

New season, new start, new squad!!

Hello and welcome back to the Buzz Blog!

We have plenty of new stuff of our own to bring you but first we turn our attention to matters closer to home...

Ever since that penalty and the play-of final, Brentford have only ever looked positive about the coming season!

We have now signed a number of players and all looks good...except we have lost Harry Forrester to a unconfirmed club but we fear that he has gone to Doncaster!? But, hey onwards and upwards!

Brentford have since signed Will Grigg from Walsall. He is a striker and scored a rather impressive 19 goals in 41 league 1 games last season!

This is a superb signing for the Bees who have also signed Chelsea midfielder George Saville on loan until January and completed the signing the signing of defender Alan Mccormack from Swindon Town and goal keeper Jack Bonham from Watford.

Was anyone else slightly surprised to see Paul Hayes remain at Griffin Park?

Just a side thought. Anyways...

In other news, the Bees have released pictures of the new home & away kits for the season and I think they have received mixed reviews...

The home shirt is obviously red and white:

And the away kit (in my opinion the nicer of the 2) is yellow and blue:

Griffin Park will certainly be colourful next season & for once it won't just be the stewards!

That's all for now! Feel free to tweet us your opinions.
