Buzz Blog Exclusive-Best form of defence is attack

Brentford vs. Swindon report

After the first leg of the play-offs it was all level between the Bees and Swindon.

Right from kick off, Brentford seemed to be the stronger side and went ahead through an Adam Rooney own goal in the 20th minute which was followed up by Clayton Donaldson's first of 2 goals in the match.

Swindon pulled a goal back just before half time but the Bees faithful stayed proud and loud!

A couple of songs from Ealing Road made us laugh, the first being directed at the Swindon Town fans ''Paolo Di Canio, he left 'cause your sh*t'' and then a favorite was ''He comes, from Italy, he missed a penalty but he's going to Wembley!'' I'm sure we all know who that was aimed at...

Back to game, the second half began and after just 2 second half minutes-Clayton Donaldson scored with a delightful chip over the Swindon keeper to send Ealing Road into hysterics! Chants of ''Que sera sera' rang loud and true

But this game was not won yet, the Bees defense seemed a tad frail as Swindon scored again to make it 3-2.

After that, the Bees seem to dominate but in added time Swindon equalized to send the game into added time...

Added time was fairly un-eventful apart from former Brentford loan signing Nathan Byrne appeared to fall on the ball and handled it then received his marching orders from the referee for a second bookable offence. But the 10 men of Swindon held on and the match went to penalties...

0-1 Devera [Swindon]
1-1 Sam Saunders [Bees]
1-2 Flint [Swindon]
2-2 Paul Hayes [Bees]
2-3 Collins [Swindon]
3-3 Harley Dean [Bees]
PENALTY SAVE-Simon Moore [Bees]
4-3 Tony Craig [Bees]
4-4 Roberts [Swindon]
5-4 Adam Forshaw [Brentford]

The Bees win on penalties!

The Buzz Blog man of the match goes to number 11 Marcello Trotta who was superb throughout but did'nt take a penalty...

The Bees seem to have fantastic fire power going forward but a lack of defensive consistency.

Brentford will go on to play Yeovil Town in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium on the 19th May
The Bees have beaten Yeovil just once in the last 10 encounters.

Anyways, to end. We have a caption competition...

A tale of 2 penalties...

Last Saturday, Brentford had the chance to go out and get the biggest 3 points in the clubs history...

The Bees had to win vs. Doncaster Rovers to gain promotion t the NPower Championship. The game had 0-0 written all over it and until the 95th minute, that was the case...in the 5th of 5 minutes of stoppage time, Brentford where awarded a penalty and it looked like King Kev O'Connor would get the chance to fire Brentford to the promised land but no...the penalty was taken by Marcello Trotta...he hit the cross bar and Donny went down to the other end and tapped the ball home to become NPower League 1 champions.

So Brentford where placed into the play-offs and where to play Swindon Town. The first leg match was played at the County Ground and at half time neither team looked the likelier to take the lead but in the second half, Town took the lead with a well taken goal. This left Brentford with it all to do...

Swindon continued to dominate the 2nd half but in the 93rd minute, the last minute of added time [remind you of anything?] the Bees where awarded a penalty and life-line...

This time there was no argument among Brentford players and Mr Brentford himself, King Kev O'Connor had the chance to score from the spot and he did not fail!

Final score at the County Ground-Swindon Town 1 Brentford 1

The Buzz Blog's man of the match goes to Simon Moore, the young shot stopper kept Rosler's men in the game

So here's the maths for you...

Brentford are 90 minutes from Wembley, 180 minutes and 2 goals from the NPower Championship! Get behind the boys and Beelive!!!
